Yesterday was my 5th anniversary on the site. I do not have much more to say, as progress on almost everything stalled since the last post.

Did not expect to work on it again for a while, but a recent GDevelop version added explicit tweening for the camera position. All changes were made 2-3 weeks ago, so I forgot most of the smaller changes.


Changes:

  • Updated my room movement engine to tween the camera position
  • Temporarily disable the Newgrounds logo in the intro until I find out its allowed usage
  • Most text with an image or bitmap font. (Barring the poorly made font, most of the text should be readable)
  • Fix game-breaking bugs.

While I make a proper plan for creating the rest of Railbound 2D, my focus will shift to older projects, such as Tower Defense Ultra and Unrandom. Both are on my Github and open to contributions.

I replaced the main intro with an image equivalent. Notify me if any other text goes off-screen.


Changes:

  • Fixed an oversight with the settings
  • Fixed a certain navigation object in the second part
  • Readded and fixed intro text, deleted by accident in today's update
  • You can place all wrenches on a matching pedestal
  • Added the real ending for the two sections
  • Replaced a text object with an image equivalent to work around line spacing inconsistencies.
  • Internal clean-up

Somehow, GDevelop or Newgrounds adds two extra pixels of spacing between lines of text in the built game. Consequently, I am replacing all text objects with images. This will take time, as I need to make changes to the underlying font. The game remains unpublished until that is done.

This is my second game on this website, my first Point and Click game, my first game for Pixel Day, and my first game in GDevelop.

I had no plans to make this until three days before. Additionally, I have no natural depth perception, so the 3D may be off.

The symbol puzzle is a mathematics puzzle. Try completing it with 3 presses.

Lore/Story

  • In the story, Recursive labs purposely designed Railbound 2D-1 to deter us from their studies by pushing us to give up.

Easter Eggs and other External Inspirations

  • I based the button puzzle on my first Point N' Click concept, four rooms I drew on graph paper.
  • I used the back wall's pattern from the concept as well.
  • The letters are from my conlang e̅t̲okt̲a̅k.

As soon as I verify there are no more bugs and make more changes to the game's page, I will re-upload Railbound 2D-1 with Phase 2.

Unfortunately, Railbound's inventory code seems to fire wrongly to the point I cannot continue. I am not sure if this is a bug with GDevelop but considering that an event is firing when conditions are false, I believe this is.
